2011 Legislative Activities
At the federal level, the HFMD is working with
affiliated national organizations representing the bleeding disorders
community to preserve patient protection provisions from the 2010 Affordable
Health Care Act (National Health Care Reform). These organizations include
the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF), the Hemophilia Federation of
America (HFA), and the Committee of Ten Thousand (COTT). Holding ground
against ongoing efforts to repeal new health care laws is a primary
legislative focus for this organization in 2011. We urge you to contact your
United States Senators and House Representatives to ask for their support in
upholding patient protection provisions from the 2010 health care reform.
At the state level, the HFMD is focused on monitoring
looming budget cuts which could be harmful to members of the bleeding
disorders community. Efforts include our involvement with the Minnesota
Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (MN-CCD).
Contacting your state Senators and House
Representatives to share your concerns and health care needs can truly make
a difference.
